Alto Mesa Estates New Mexico

Ruidoso … Resort Town and Mountain Paradise!

Located in the high mountain valleys and high altitude mesas of the southern Sacramento Mountains of Southern New Mexico, Ruidoso is truly a resort town blessed by the splendors of nature. High mountain peaks, abundant forested lands and boundless views of the high desert areas and mountain ranges surrounding the green oasis which is Ruidoso.

Ruidoso Offers Residents Year Round Bliss
A temperate four season climate only compounds Ruidoso’s natural beauty. Cool mountain summers punctuated by afternoon monsoon showers which green up the valleys and mild winters caused by the town’s southern latitude are the town’s hallmarks. Spring, too, is beautiful and fall’s brilliant golden aspen glow portends the coming of another winter. Natural Beauty, mild four season temperatures and a laid back mountain lifestyle make Ruidoso a perfect setting for a second vacation home or a more permanent retirement location at Alto Mesa Estates.

Ruidoso Offers More
And Ruidoso is more than just beautiful … a leisurely stroll through Ruidoso’s Midtown will find many unique gift shops featuring New Mexican and Native American jewelry, Western antiques and collectibles, fine art, handmade artisan clothing, couture and much, much more. If you find yourself hungry, Ruidoso offers many dining options as well ... Chinese to Italian to French to Mexican and standby American Steakhouses and burger joints ... along with homemade candy stores and a host of coffee shops.

Ruidoso Art Happenings
Ruidoso also features many gallery tours, art walks, and art events throughout the year. A number of local artists offer tours of their studios several times a year with an Art Loop and the Art in Public Places exhibits. And, the Ruidoso Valley Chamber of Commerce produces the Ruidoso Arts Festival every July. This show has become one of the finest juried shows in the Southwest. Ruidoso’s arts organization called the Ruidoso Regional Council for the Arts was created in past years to provide new support to the art community and sponsors art and cultural events in Ruidoso, Lincoln County as well as the Mescalero Apache Reservation.

Famous Sons and Daughters
The Hurd La Rinconada Gallery, in the Hondo Valley, displays the works of one of our nation’s foremost art families. Four generations of artists, starting with the famed illustrator N.C, Wyeth and continuing with his son Andrew Wyeth, his daughter Henrietta Wyeth, her husband Peter Hurd  and now their son Michael Hurd, created an unprecedented volume of work over the past decades. Ruidosoan Gordon Snidow is a fine western artist known nationally and around the world. McMahon, The Thirsty Eye and the Adobe Gallery are three of the many fine galleries which feature the work of local and other New Mexico artists. McGary Studios features Dave McGary’s bronze sculptures of Native Americans. You’ll see many of his incredible pieces throughout our community as well as in fine galleries nationwide. His sculpture at Hubbard Museum of the American West titled “Free Spirits at Noisy Water” is known to be one of the finest equine sculptures in the world.
